A child’s play is their language; our presence is the conversation.
— Anya Reddy, Play Therapist & Parent Coach

Anya Reddy is a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist and PCI® Certified Parent Coach based in Bangalore, India, offering in-person and online support for children aged 3 - 17 and their families.

In addition to her private practice, Play Therapy with Anya, she serves as a Play Therapist with the Department of Pediatric Oncology at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology (KMIO), supporting children and families navigating cancer treatment and hospitalisation. She offers in-person and online support for children aged 3–17 and their families.

Why Families Reach Out

Families often reach out when something in the relationship with their child has started to feel harder than expected.

A child who suddenly seems emotionally distant. Big feelings that escalate quickly at home. Anxiety that shows up around school, friendships, sleep, or transitions. Parenting beginning to feel emotionally exhausting, even with the best intentions.

Sometimes parents describe feeling like they are constantly walking on eggshells around their child’s emotions. Sometimes they feel shut out completely. And sometimes they arrive carrying a quiet fear that they are somehow getting it wrong.

But children often communicate overwhelm long before they can fully explain it in words.

That is where this work begins.

How I Work

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in nervous system awareness.

Rather than focusing only on behaviour itself, I work to understand the emotional experience, relational patterns, and physiological stress responses underneath what a child may be expressing.

Children naturally communicate through play, movement, creativity, imagination, storytelling, and symbolic expression long before they can fully articulate difficult feelings verbally. In the playroom, these become meaningful pathways into emotional processing, regulation, resilience, and connection.

Alongside supporting children directly, I also work collaboratively with parents and caregivers. Lasting change rarely happens in isolation. It develops through relationships where children feel emotionally safe, understood, and supported over time.

My practice is:

  • Trauma-informed

  • Neurodiversity-affirming

  • LGBTQIA+ affirming

  • Culturally sensitive

  • Developmentally attuned

Sessions are available both online and in person in Bangalore.

What I Believe

  • Children do not need to be fixed - they need to feel safe enough to be understood.

  • Behaviour is often communication before it becomes language.

  • Emotional regulation develops within relationships, not through shame or fear.

  • Play is one of the most natural ways children process experience.

  • Parents do not need perfection - they need support, reflection, and connection.

  • Healing happens within emotionally safe relationships. Always.
